Interview Q&A
What is your primary product or service?
Standard Tracking – Standard tracking devices can be plugged into the Onboard Diagnostic Port (OBD-II port) under the steering column or hardwired under the dashboard of the vehicle. The 4G OBD-II plug units are the easiest to install, they are also the easiest to unplug. Since the OBD-II port is a diagnostic port, your mechanic may unplug the tracker to test your engine. This unit can also be removed by a driver that does not want to be tracked. In either case, the ease of access this unit can be a detriment to the company. Our hardwired units are the most common tracking unit. These tracking units are installed under the dashboard, out of the sight of the driver. These units are connected securely into the circuitry of the vehicle and can remain connected for many years. Dashcam Video GPS Tracking – An enhancement to standard tracking is the Dashcam. Capture all of the location information, driving behavior (speed, driving habits, etc.) plus add the value of video footage. In addition to the data captured, you can see if your driver is wearing their seatbelt? Are they texting while driving? Are they eating while driving? Are they falling asleep while driving? Standard tracking and Dashcam Video GPS tracking are valuable components for traditional fleet customers. Contractors, Towing Operators and Delivery companies, investing in this technology will benefit your business very quickly. Every vehicle with a logo on the side should have a tracking unit inside. The Return on Investment (ROI) is usually measured in weeks or months. Wireless Tracking – Some assets do not have constant power. Hardwired and OBD-II plug units require constant power, but wireless units have an internal battery to power the unit and track its location without the need for vehicle power. These types of units work well in a variety of scenarios. Trailers that are not always connected to the Tractor for power should be monitored. These trailers are stolen with frequency, so with tracking, recovery is possible. Bobcats, Trench Diggers, Seed Spreaders and Lawn Aerators can be easily stolen. Precise Fleet Tracking’s wireless tracking units can provide the owner with their location and allow the police to recover the stolen asset. Classic cars are another market where wireless tracking units deliver value. The true car collector generally does not want to attach a tracking unit to the vehicles wiring, so a wireless tracking unit is a smart alternative. Some wireless tracking units only track on movement, so the battery life can be substantially extended. Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) -- Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) is another aspect of GPS tracking. The Federal government established a requirement in 2019 that all interstate truck drivers log their driving time to reduce the impact of fatigued driving. While there are exceptions, most over-the-road truck drivers must comply with the ELD mandate. GPS tracking is a component typically paired with ELD, but they are two separate components. The key to the most successful ELD installations is ease of use for the drivers. The easier it is for the drivers to log their Hours of Service (HOS), the more compliant the company will be and the risk of penalties will be reduced. Personal Tracking -- Personal Tracking is generally installed in personal vehicles when monitoring driving habits are most important. Precise Fleet Tracking fervently believes all youthful drivers should have tracking installed in the vehicle they drive. We believe the best way to cement safe driving habits is to monitor their driving as early as possible. Personal Tracking does not need to be installed due to the lack of trust, but out of an abundance of love and support. Youthful drivers that establish safe driving practices during their initial few years of driving have a far greater likelihood of being a better and safer driver in the future. Another aspect of Personal Tracking are elderly drivers. As we age, many seniors resist hanging up their keys. This is a difficult decision for many families. Many times, this decision comes after a dangerous incident. With a Personal Tracking device installed, the adult family member of the senior can monitor the driving behavior and have a better chance of intervening before a serious incident may occur. It is always easier to make the decision when you have documented facts. Precise Fleet Tracking system will provide those details. Used Cars -- Buy Here Pay Here Car lots are an important aspect of the Used Car market. When a customer needs to finance the payments for a vehicle through the Used Car lot, the owner retains the title until the vehicle is paid in full. During this time, the owner of the car lot needs to know where the vehicle isshould recovery be required. The Used Car Lot owner carries all of the risk when a driver leaves the lot with a vehicle and promises to pay the owner for the car over time. Precise Fleet Tracking can provide a few types of tracking units that can assist the owner in knowing where his vehicles are located, just in case recovery is needed. Car and Equipment Rentals -- Car Rental and Equipment Rental companies are similar to Buy Here Pay Here Used Car Dealers. When a car rental agent hands the keys of a vehicle or a piece of equipment to a customer, there is a promise the vehicle or equipment will be returned when promised. If for some reason, it is not returned, recovery is an important aspect of the business. Precise Fleet Tracking can provide the necessary technology to help these business owners manage their assets.
