Golden Apple, a leader in advancing the teaching profession in Illinois since 1985, recruits, prepares and mentors students who demonstrate strong potential to become great teachers though the Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program; offers professional development programs to teachers at all stages of their careers providing innovative approaches to classroom instruction; and recognizes outstanding teachers with the annual Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching to 10 outstanding classroom educations in the Illinois counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will in order to recognize their achievements and utilize their creativity in the Golden Apple Academy of Educators, which conceives, develops and supports programs for teachers to make them more effective in the classroom.
