Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
33 years (Company founded in 1982)
What is your primary product or service?
Focused, practical consultation and advice
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
With an educational background in both technology and business I worked for a number of years with large companies. When I started my consulting practice I was focused on the development of ways to use technology to improve business performance. Small businesses and professional practices, being the most underserved market, grew as a portion of the work I was doing. By the late 90's, while working on Year 2000 remediation efforts for some larger clients, it became more and more evident that the people who really needed the help dealing with potential business disruption were smaller businesses!
If I ever really needed reinforcement of that idea it has come regularly over the years since ... September 11th, hurricanes on the East Coast, earthquakes and fires on the West Coast, and fires and flooding in Chicago.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The focus is on understanding a client's business and the environment in which they operate first ... then helping them determine the best ways to manage risks, improve productivity or implement technology.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One physical location - but work takes place wherever the client is or via the Internet. ("Here" or "there" means a lot less than it used to ...)
What type of payments do you accept?
Pretty much anything can be arranged on a project or retainer basis.
Which areas do you service?
Primarily the Chicago area, including NW Indiana and SE Wisconsin, but will travel anywhere in the US and Canada
What are your hours of operation?
M-F 8:30 - 5:00 (24x7 for clients)
